Steven Skrtic's Mythology Project - Agamemnon

Last Updated 19 February 2004

Side: Greeks

Agamemnon was the king of Greece and brother of Menelaus.  He was murdered by his wife Clytemnestra because she was mad at him because he sacrificed his daughter, Iphigenia, for a fair wind. Clytemnestra also murdered Cassandra, a Trojan priestess, because Agamemnon loved Cassandra. Agamemnon led the Greeks to war and was the chief of the army. Agamemnon and Clytemnestra's son, Orestes, avenged his fathers death by killing his mother.
